Each year marks the contribution of Hispanic and Latin communities to American society between September 15 to October 15 with the Hispanic heritage month. However, 2020 was different. There is nothing anyone could do with COVID-19 being the global highlight.
As a lifestyle brand dealing with men’s accessories, apparel, online shoe shopping across Los Angeles (and much more) with the concept of POAI, we decided to celebrate the 2020 Hispanic heritage month in our own way.
This year’s theme- “Be proud of your past, embrace the future”, was all about celebrating the rich cultural history of the Hispanic community while marching towards modernity. It’s important for the young and modern Hispanic people to know about their history and backgrounds so that they understand themselves more while carving their unique identity in society. To capture its essence we decided to create a few products:
POAI Malta backpack: to encapsulate the spirit of perseverance, hard work, and aspiration. Backpacks offer an amazing utility aspect. They are stylish but at the same time do not hinder functionality and motion while safely containing and carrying your personal possession around. So, you don’t have to get busy handling your bag while you stay on the grind.
Sudan brown crossbody: another fashion product offering functionality with style. Wear it as a cross-body or wrap it around your waist while you are hustling and trying to get to places.
POAI Mid Mota: these mota shoes were designed to celebrate the bravery and endurance of the Hispanic ancestors.
Color is another important aspect of every culture that provides context to ancestors, traditions, and families. Sherlyn-Williams, an American fortune 500 paint company, explained the importance of colors by saying that, “The rich histories of Hispanic communities come to life and run the gamut from brilliant, bold colors to softer, subtle hues. The design and color contributions of Hispanics make the world around us a more beautiful place to live, work, and play.” Colors remind us of our roots and the vibrant images of people and places that shaped our community.
As a tribute to the colorful Hispanic history, we decided to design and curate some colorful options for men’s shoes, apparel, and men’s accessories online across Los Angeles. These include:
Even a month seems short to celebrate the contributions and culture of the Hispanic community. With a population of over 5.7 crores, Hispanics are the largest minority group, thus, forming a valuable part of our society.
