Reykjavík

Reykjavík is the northernmost capital on the planet. Some of the best places in Reykjavik are 

It has the world’s oldest parliament, which was established in 930 in Thingvellir. 

The country’s biggest flea market is Kolaportid and is located near Reykjavik Harbour. It is open on weekends from 11:00 am to 5 pm. The Blue Lagoon is the most popular, famous attraction and is a perfect destination to spend a holiday in Iceland. It has beautiful chalky white and blue water and glaring contrast to the surrounding black lava, silica mud bath, and the sneaking gry moss. The temperature is 37–39 °C, and it is perfect for bathing and swimming. The water of blue lagoon helps in curing skin diseases like psoriasis and many other diseases because the water is rich in minerals like silica and sulfur. Spa and massages facility is also available.

Nauthólsvík is another geothermal bathing beach in Reykjavik, if you are looking for a blue lagoon alternative, then Nauthólsvík is the best choice and is open all day. 

Greylags, eiders, and arctic tern are some of the beautiful birds found in Reykjavik. 

Skaftafell Park

Skaftafell Park is very popular for hiking, and it has an area of more than 4,000 square kilometers and has some of the best unique landscapes and sceneries on earth. The major part is covered with thick bird wood forests and icy rivers and volcanic sands.

Blue lagoon is very popular, and the most favorite destinations of tourists and is perfect for spending your holiday in Iceland. You will also find a blue lagoon that is completely covered with icebergs. If you want to discover the icebergs better and more closely, then you can take water boats.

Thórsmörk & Eyjafjallajökull

Eyjafjallajökull volcano is also known as a sub logical volcano and lies in the East Volcanic Zone.

It has a unique and dramatic landscape of high mounts and glacial rivers wind. Hiking around Thórsmörk will take you past Eyjafjallajökull Glacier. 

At the Icelandair Hotel, you can take a quad-bike tour of the south coast’s black beaches. Quad-bike tour is the best way of viewing landscapes formed by the Katla volcano. 

Glacier Hike

A walk or hiking on Solheimajokull Glacier is very popular and is a must-do activity in Iceland. This frozen glacier has white and blue ice crystals, opaque water cauldrons, and deep crevasses. You can also do some ice climbing in some deep crevasses. The hiking is available all seasons. Summer or winter the glacier hike experience is unforgettable.  

Some other glaciers that are popular for hiking are-

Svinafellsjokull Glacier- It is located in Skaftafell National Park is popular and is accessible the whole year. 

Jökulsárlón Glacier LagoonIt is the earliest cave and is located in the Skaftafell National Park. The only disadvantage of this glacier is that it is only accessible in winters only. 

The Golden Circle

The golden circle looks different in every season, and there is so much to see at this place. It is the second most famous place in Iceland, and for a reason, as it has famous tourist destinations- the Thingvellir National Park, the Strokkur geyser,  the Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir, and Kerið Crater Lake.

Another reason that the Golden Circle is famous for- its road trip. The golden circle is very popular for road trips in Iceland since it is very close to Reykjavik. The distance to the golden circle from Reykjavik is approximately 300 KM, and it will take around 3 to 4 hours to reach there. Driving through Nesjavellir, where pillars of fog rise from the all-surrounding mountains and reach up to Kerið. Kerið is a unique volcanic creator consisting of red rocks walls that embrace hold an opaque aquamarine lake in the crater’s bottom. 

Another place to visit in the Golden circle is the huge Gullfoss waterfall. Iceland alone is the most popular attraction. 

The golden circle is perfect for the on-day mini-trip, and you can camp within Thingvellir National park. The camper van is suitable for Iceland car tours.
